Objectives Establishment of a Community cum Training Centre for awareness and social work. Setting up of a production unit for making Khada of various types. BPL women of Kurseong Municipal Area will manage the unit. Administrative, Management Technical and Marketing Training will be provided to these BPL women to carry out the project. The First Phase will have one unit and later on several other units will follow. Export of Designer Khada to neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bhutan where the product has tremendous demand. Also extensive marketing to other parts of the country like Assam & Sikkim where Khada is extensively used. INNOVATIVENESS The Product “ Khada” is extensively used in hill because here there is shortage of regular flowers to be used in events and ceremonies. Hence, in hills Khada acquires enormous importance. There is only one production unit in Kalimpong run by a Private Party. We want to produce both normal as well as designed Khada for special occasions. The designs will be done by the BPL women whom this work will be out sourced thus resulting in an cluster approach. |
